8 Things To Do In Bayfield During Your Girls' Weekend
1. Take a day trip to Madeline Island
If you book Hale House for your girls’ weekend, you’ll only have to walk down the block to reach the ferry terminal! The ferry office does not take reservations and tickets are sold on a first-come, first serve basis. (You can find more Madeline Island ferry info here.)
Once you reach the shores of Madeline Island, you can explore the history museum, hike one of the island’s many trails, rent a moped, or grab lunch at Cafe Seiche - try the trout salad!
2. Visit Erickson’s Orchard for pick-your-own (or pre-picked) fun
Erickson’s Orchard has berries in the summer, apples, cider, and pumpkins in the fall. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can pick your own. If you’re short on time, they’ve also got pre-picked.
Their apple cider donuts are local favorites!
3. Browse the shelves at Honest Dog Books
This family-owned bookstore is the perfect place to while away a rainy afternoon or grab a few fun novels to read next to our firepit. The bookstore’s emphasis reflect the owners’ interests: adventure, dog sledding, nature, memoir, regional and Anishinabe history and literature along with classic children, current, LGBTQ, and young adult fiction. Plus a whole lot more!
4. Book seats on an Apostle Island cruise
Choose from:
The Grand Tour, 2.5 - 3 hours
You’ll pass extraordinary natural scenery, beautiful historic Raspberry and Devils Island Lighthouses, standing rocks, extensive sea caves, and marine wildlife.
Sea Cave + Lighthouse tour, 3 hours
Travel through the islands to visit the Raspberry and Sand Island Lighthouses. Then visit the mainland sea caves popularized during the winter months by foot.
5. Get dinner at Good Thyme Restaurant
If you’re looking for a chef-inspired take on Wisconsin and Midwestern favorites, this is the place for you. The hand-breaded whitefish fingers make for an amazing appetizer and you can’t go wrong with salmon piccata or stuffed portabellas as your entree.
If you want to have a real Wisconsin experience, don’t miss their Friday Night All You Can Eat Fish Fry.
6. Get pampered at Superior Body Massage & Spa
Fact: it’s not a girls’ weekend if you don’t visit the spa. Book yourself a hot stone massage, a peppermint “pedissage” (like a fancy foot massage), an infrared sauna or one of their many other treatments.
7. Buy local art at The Bayfield Artists’ Guild
Browse hand poured candles, homemade quilts, watercolors, cutting boards, and ceramics. Find a unique souvenir and support the local art community - win/win!
8. See a live performance at The Big Top
The Big Top has played host to performers like Ani DiFranco, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, and Drive-by Truckers. Check out their ‘Tiny Tent Show’ on Facebook and Youtube and find their events calendar and ticket info here.
